CRANKSHAFT-Discovery
The crankshaft in the 3.0 tdv6 engine is the main cause for concern when it comes to engine failure. This is because by design the crankshaft is compact and narrow, meaning it has weak points between the rod bearing journals and counterweights. This weak point is affected not only by poor maintenance but also by an aggressive driving style or long periods of maximum load. So we replace this component with a new OE crankshaft every time.
Timing Camshafts
Included in all of our 3.0 tdv6 engine rebuilds is the camshaft chains & tensioner. There are various reasons why this is important, one of which is because of the plastic guide. Long exposure to heat cycles & oil contamination weakens this part which in time can be another cause of engine failure.
Timing Belt Kit
When rebuilding the Discovery 3.0 TDV6 we also includes a brand new and complete timing belt kit. This is another important step in ensuring a quality engine.
Cylinder Heads
New OEM head gaskets are changed every time during a Discovery engine rebuild. The high quality engines that we produce are checked for any leaks or poor seals. Valves are grinded or replaced, camshafts are polished or replaced. Heads and all components are cleaned using ultrasonic technology.
Engine Bearings
New and improved main and connecting rod bearings are used every time. This will ensure a smooth running operation.
Pistons & Rings
Piston assemblies and piston rings are replaced as part of this engine rebuild. We also clean & hone the cylinders, this is so we can ensure a 100% sealed combustion chamber.
Oil Pump
A new and updated oil pump is fitted with every Discovery engine rebuild, this helps to prevent future failures if your existing pump is worn or has been subjected to damage.
