Range Rover 3.6 TDV8 Engine Rebuild

Land Rover Range Rover 3.6 TDV8 Engine Common Failures

The Land Rover and Range Rover 3.6 TDV8 vehicles we have here at Dieselheads have all had the same failure, the 3.6 TDV8 engine is very strong generally speaking, the problem lies mainly with the turbochargers. Like other Land Rover engines the intake of oil through the turbocharger causes it to spin and rev up overloading the engine and causes failure. The only other notable issue with this engine is the composition of the valves, these are often heavily corroded upon inspection.

Engine History

This has a power output of 268hp and is twin turbocharged, the 3.6 TDV8 was fitted to the Range Rover Sport and The Range Rover Vogue. The engine was produced on the same production line as the 2.7 TDV6.
