WHAT IS A BARE ENGINE?
Explained
Bare Engine
This image shows a 3.0 TDV6 engine that has been stripped of it’s ancillary components. So what we are left with is the cylinder heads & covers, engine block, sump, oil pump and all internal components i.e. camshafts, valves & stem seals, rocker arms, gaskets, pistons & rings, conrods, crankshaft, oil jets, bearings and so on. When we are working with your vehicle here are Dieselheads we are providing a complete rebuild on the bare engine assembly. Therefore the ancillary components that are attached to the engine are not included in the cost of a rebuild, should there be an issue we are not aware of.

Dressed Engine
This image shows a 3.0 TDV6 engine that has not yet been stripped of all of it’s ancillary components. A dressed or complete engine is made up of the many external parts a vehicle requires in order to work. So this includes items such as turbochargers, EGR valves, fuel injectors. Lines/pipes & hoses, exhausts, alternators, wiring looms. AdBlue systems, radiators, mounts, nuts, bolts & fixings and so on. Many of these components play a significant role in engine operation and must be maintained by you throughout the life of the vehicle. Therefore these components are simply removed and reattached so we have access to the engine itself.

Our Facilities
At Dieselheads we are perfectly equipped to carry out bare engine rebuilds on various vehicles with incredible efficiency. However we cannot always accommodate every other issue or repair not related to our very focused operation. This is because our workshop and tools are modelled around the engine rebuilding service that we provide. So it is not always ethical or possible to keep a vehicle on our one ramp to wait for a part to arrive and be fitted. For example a new shock absorber etc. If a component directly affects engine operation or the fitment of which will not impede the timeframe of upcoming jobs i.e. A turbocharger etc. We will be happy to assist as best we can.
